Working with Emotional Intelligence

Understanding the art of human interaction

In a changing business climate, organizations need leaders with more than technical and intellectual competence to maintain a competitive advantage. Effective leaders must possess exemplary interpersonal skills in order to optimize team potential and performance. The core competencies of Emotional Intelligence provide a foundation to develop these skills. In this course, you learn to increase your intra/interpersonal effectiveness, motivate and engage your teams, and foster cooperative working relationships through the application of EI.

This course works with Daniel Goleman’s model of emotional competencies as applied to business relationships:

  1. Perceiving emotions: the ability to detect and decipher emotions in faces, pictures, voices, and cultural artifacts—including the ability to identify one’s own emotions.
  2. Using emotions: the ability to harness emotions to facilitate cognitive activities and problem solving.
  3. Understanding emotions: the ability to comprehend emotional language and the complicated relationships between emotions.
  4. Managing emotions: the ability to regulate emotions in both ourselves and in others.

The course is practical, interactive and fun; it is an excellent adjunct to Dealing with Difficult People, Assertiveness and Conflict Resolution, Working with Physical Intelligence, and all management & leadership courses.
