The workplace can be a challenging environment; skills in assertive communication and conflict resolution can help you to navigate it safely.

Skills in assertiveness and conflict resolution will enable you to express your ideas and feelings with confidence, disagree without being confrontational, respond to disagreement by exploring areas for resolving differences collaboratively, and develop effective strategies for dealing with difficult behavior, with co-workers, clients, your boss, or within your team.

This is an interactive, hands-on workshop, designed to encourage you to develop your skills for dealing with typical workplace situations in a fun, risk-free environment.

Program content

  • Assertiveness: understanding what assertiveness is; how to assert your needs and expectations in a firm but non-confrontational way; how to set limits and boundaries in a positive way
  • Confidence: how to defeat a negative mindset; how to build up your confidence; how to set realistic expectations for yourself and others
  • Experience: how to draw on your experience to gain valuable insights into key principles of human behavior; how to reflect on past experience to develop more effective responses to typical workplace challenges
  • Conflict management: how to use proven communication models for identifying the critical issue(s) in any conflict situation, improve your active listening skills, negotiate rather than demand change, encourage involvement and “buy in”, build on common interests, and use collaborative language based on a shared problem-solving approach
