Introduction
- Identify the critical differences between operations and projects
- Understand the stages of the project life cycle
Project initiation
- Establish the business case for your project relating it corporate objectives and strategies
- Identify constraints, assumptions, risks and deliverables
- Establish the criteria for a successful project
Project planning
- Develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Apply techniques for creating realistic estimates
- Create network logic diagrams showing task dependencies
- Produce Gantt charts to show project timelines
- Determine the critical path
Managing the team
- Identify the stages of project team development and choose the right leadership style for each stage
- Inspire the team using your vision and leadership
- Give regular feedback, positive (in front of the whole team) and negative (one- on-one)
- Deal promptly with any tensions or disagreement within the team
- Be open to upwards feedback from your team
- Build on your team’s talents and strengths
