Rising to the challenge of leadership
The transition from Manager to Leader is a challenging one – most managers either don’t make it, or make it only in part. Management is usually concerned with accomplishing allotted tasks; leadership is often focused on identifying the right task and developing others to accomplish it, while ensuring they have the necessary resources. Leaders and managers who understand both approaches, when to adopt which one, and who know the skills associated with each, are valuable assets in any organisation.
This course reviews the management approach and associated skills, then spends most time on understanding each developmental leadership level and the skills needed at each level. Students understand where they are in their leadership development and the skills they need to develop to move to the next level.
